Let’s be honest, most of us will be spending more time at home this year entertaining in smaller groups instead of attending lavish holiday parties. With that said, Spaces teamed up with curator and creative director Lindsey Lodenquai to create some unique tropical chic inspired decor ideas for the holidays.
Known for putting on iconic events such as New Wave, the annual charity thrift pop-up Celebrity Closet, as well as art directing numerous music videos including Protoje’s NPR Tiny Desk Concert, Lindsey is known for her eclectic style--one that is difficult to put in a box.

Art inspires everything we do
We have an eye for art that took years to cultivate, the kind that makes people ask, “where’d you find that?”Art inspires everything we do from our statement-making furniture all the way to down to the finishing touches of decor.
“We believe in creating the house you want to go home to. With people spending more time at home because of curfews, we want to create some looks that our clients could create for themselves, no matter their budget.” Janelle Pantry-Coke, Creative Director of Spaces Limited said.
Holiday dining options
The task, to create a holiday party dinner table, as well as a coffee table dining option for smaller spaces. “I’m interested in developing my sense of interior design style, and I love to mix and match cool and warm tones. The holidays are about the family and friends coming together so I wanted to use a lot of greenery that brought the outside in, a pretty mix of wood styles, and also make it uniquely Jamaican with lush pops of color!” she said.
For the formal dining option, Lindsey added two modern Larkin gold accent chairs, replaced the traditional white tablecloth with a runner that exposed the wood and added lots of green leaves and multi-colored ceramics. The Donnata accent rustic wooden mirror was placed on the facing wall. The layering creates a rich, organic look.
Whereas for the coffee table option, Lindsey matched two traditional Charisma accent chairs in teal with a coffee table topped with a modern wooden tray for serving finger foods. She also added two poufs, one in grey and the other in taupe for additional seating.
Home Office Design
Lindsey also showed her home office design aesthetic which is minimalist meets eclectic with a touch of colour. The key black and white pieces included a white ceramic pen holder, a black modern mid-century Coramont console table with gold finishing paired with black marble Josetta bookends to showcase her books. To make it tropical chic, Lindsey added some framed leaf prints to the space.
“Most people now need to spend more time at home, I wanted to create something comfortable and sophisticated using items that were easy to put together,” Lindsey said.
Modern Holiday Living Room
One of the key pieces she put together was a mustard velvet loveseat with a Kastel pillow in yellow, multi-colored bright blue throw blanket perfectly poised by a Christmas tree in the background.
Bedside Table Style
Lindsey created a bedside table look for a small bedroom. She paired mid-century modern wooden lacquer Transmit nightstand with Kamilah Iron Table lamp, with an oversized shade and marble-finished base. To add a touch of Caribbean glamour, Lindsey added an ocean blue Bermuda Art glass decorative bottle with lush greenery.
How to create Tropical Chic
So how does one do holiday tropical chic? “It’s quite easy, actually. You can add accessories like a throw blanket, pillow, or rug. Also, Spaces has cute poufs that are a great seating addition. You can also add a large potted plant like a fig leaf or bird of paradise, which are really popular right now. Spaces Jamaica has some artificial plant options.” Lindsey said.
